HUAYUE® Cellular Glass Insulation For Tank Base Construction
Tank insulation systems mainly contain insulation of three parts, tank base, tank wall, and tank roof. The tank wall and its roof are the biggest sources of energy losses when a storage tank is completely filled. This is why the bottom of tanks is often overlooked. The situation is somewhat different when the tank is partially filled. Even if the storage tank is filled for only 10%, the tank bottom is always in 100% contact with the hot or cold liquid which is why it is so important to have a good thermal insulation system in tank bases.

Compressive strength
HUAYUE® High Load Bearing insulation provides a very high compressive strength that can easily withstand high loads. In addition, for applications that require various level of compressive strength, different models of HUAYUE® cellular glass insulation is available in a number of high load bearing grades. 100% Fireproof
Cellular glass insulation is 100% glass. Since it does not burn, cellular glass insulation helps increase the fire resistance of the overall insulation system.

HUAYUE® insulation is an impermeable barrier against rising water vapour and moisture thanks to the cell walls of the glass foam, protecting the tank bottom against corrosion. This is important when considering the issue of water vapor intrusion into the system.
Protection of the base slab against high or cold operating temperatures
HUAYUE® insulation protects the substrate (concrete base slab) against high or cryogenic temperatures. This increases safety and longevity.

Cryogenic and cold temperatures piping insulation
With the combination of our HUAYUE® high performance cellular glass insulation pipe and the right construction engineering, it can be used to increase efficiency and lengthen the life of pipelines in LNG systems.
HUAYUE® foam cellular glass pipe insulation:
- is 100% impermeable and as such avoids moisture ingress when vapour retarders fail.
- is fire safe, which is critical in the presence of hydrocarbon products.
- has a high compressive strength, making it easier to perform mechanical maintenance without damage.
- has an insulation value that stands the test of time and performs for decades.
- in actual operation, the piping on an LNG system will contract when put in service. Since the coefficient of thermal expansion for HUAYUE® cellular glass insulation is close to that of steel, it will contract proportionally to the pipe avoiding cracks and open joints.
In addition, the HUAYUE® insulation pipe system is surprisingly competitive, requiring only two layers in many cases where other insulation materials need three or more layers to perform adequately. As a result, less joint sealant and handling would be required.
In systems operating down to -51°C (-58°F), HUAYUE® insulation can be applied in a single layer, thus avoiding the costly double layering required with alternative systems.
Above ambient temperatures and hot pipe insulation
HUAYUE® foam cellular glass pipe insulation is suitable for not only cold pipes applications but also above ambient temperatures and hot pipes, serving with a severe fluctuating temperature range.
There is simply no other insulation material available in the market today which combines physical strength, fire resistance and moisture resistance to provide the safety and security superiority in industrial and commercial pipe insulation performance. HUAYUE® cellular glass insulation pipe is impermeable to moisture, unaffected by soil acids, chemically inert and strong enough for direct burial.
